Kathy Berg is a Seattle painter originally from New York state. Her travels have taken her all over the US and to many foreign countries. The vibrant colors and cultures she finds in these places have greatly influenced her work.
She has studied in classes and workshops with nationally-known Northwest artists including Pam Ingalls, Lois Silver, Lyn Asselta and Marla Bagetta. After experimenting with a number of different mediums including oil paints, watercolor, oil bar and acrylics, she currently is working almost exclusively with soft pastels.
She paints representational images with an impressionistic style, and is inspired by color, shape, and line. “I paint whatever moves me at the moment: it could be a landscape, figure, animal, or still life. I enjoy the ongoing rhythm of various shapes in relation to each other. I seem to have an emotional response to light and color, and find great joy in expressing it!”
A member of the Evergreen Fine Arts Association (EAFA), she has participated in art festivals in the Seattle area and eastern Washington. Her art has been displayed in public buildings as part of the EAFA public art program.
